AN OPEN LETTER TO SACHIN TENDULKAR

Hello Sachin!

It has been a pleasant ride for us with the Indian team comprising of you.  Your memorable knocks have been almost live telecasting in many of your fans (at least mine) for the last two decades every often day. But now at the age of 39, don’t you think it is time up for this life!!!

[Your failures against the NZ test series were not mere out of form dismissals but there was lot to the way you got out. On all occasions, I felt you were late on the delivery. But who am I to talk about this, that too to the master. Sorry!!!! ]

Your enjoyment playing this game with full dedication is as always commendable. But have you ever thought that you being in and out of the team on your own wish is hampering the teams balance a huge way. As you are still thinking of lingering your career, it has been debarring the selectors from picking an experienced domestic run machine like Badrinath for the team as he has no more than three-four years of cricket left in him. Doesn’t the way you have been in the team without performing is setting a bad precedence for the youngsters.

Do try to answer these questions if possible….
·         Being sure that your career is not going to linger more than one year, are not you pushing India into another drubbing in overseas series’ by not letting the youngsters groove in the home series’ ?
·         Don’t you think it’s time to at least retire from the ODIs to prepare a team keeping 2015 world cup and Australian conditions in mind?
·         Don’t you think your retirement will make guys like Kohli and co. to lead from the front as seniors? (Probably it’s time for Kohli to take over the no. 4 slot in tests)
·         On a lighter note, shouldn’t you devote more of your precious time on your latest job as a MP?

With high regards, just want to say you that don’t make a glorious career end on a low. While the perfect time of retirement was after the world cup victory, doing it in front of your home crowd is no lesser perfect.

Wishing you best of luck for your stint with MIs in the most irrelevant champions league, I conclude.

                                                                        Yours yet another huge fan
                                                                                                    Sailendra
